Film Series
At The Center for Community Growth, our film series have always been a key way for us to spark important conversations about critical social issues and inspire people. By showing documentaries and stories about various social, economic, and environmental challenges, we aim to not only inform but also encourage people to take action. Our goal is to help people understand these issues better, connect with others who care about similar things, and find practical ways to make a difference.

The 2024 Film Series: Stories of a Just Transition
Our most recent initiative, Stories of a Just Transition, focuses on coal communities that have successfully transitioned their economies and workforces to new energy sources. This series highlights their remarkable journeys and offers valuable lessons for others in similar circumstances.
The 2015 Film Series: Action
Action provided an opportunity for audiences to engage directly with pressing issues such as student financial burdens, living wages, and social safety nets. Each event featured a keynote speaker, a panel discussion, and a direct action for attendees to participate in, driving immediate and impactful change.
The 2014 Film Series: Forging Connections for Change
Forging Connections for Change tackled the challenge of uniting diverse advocacy causes. Through films and panels featuring advocates from various progressive fields, this series explored how different issues intersect—such as the links between healthcare and GMO regulations or the penal system and economic inequality.
The 2013 Film Series
The 2013 Film Series centered on the interplay between the economy and other social justice issues. From February to July, we screened films that examined the economic factors affecting social, political, and environmental problems in our communities. Each screening was followed by a discussion and an opportunity to connect with local organizations, aiming to strengthen community engagement and collaborative solutions.
